Before surgery I was 298 lbs. I’m only 5’4″ so that was a lot of weight to carry around. I was extremely inactive. I didn’t have the energy or motivation to do anything. I was living on the sidelines. I had asthma, my back and knees hurt, my blood pressure was steadily going up and I was being treated for depression. My 7-year-old son was missing out because I just couldn’t get around to do anything with him. My relationship with my husband was in turmoil. He was unhappy with the way I looked and so was I. I wanted to be the fun active mom and wife my family needed me to be.

Hello, my name is Jessie. I’m 26 years old and spent the majority of my life overweight and unhappy with myself. I was a borderline diabetic with Polycystic Ovarian Syndrome. When I was 24 I got pregnant with my daughter Lillian. I wasn’t supposed to be able to have children and at 305lbs I wasn’t at a safe weight to carry her. She was born 14 weeks premature because of my PCOS and my weight. We spent 3 months in the hospital with her not sure if she was going to survive.
